Dawn Glory Cherry

Dawn Glory Cherry passed away in her sleep on Wednesday May 12, 2021. Dawn was born on January 12, 1955 in Toledo Ohio and lived in Northwood with 7 other siblings. She moved to Lima, Ohio in 1995 and then to St. Helen, Oregon in 2000. Dawn liked the area she worked in and stayed until her passing. She would come back to Toledo twice a year to visit with family and friends. Anyone who knew Dawn knew she loved to collect elephant figurines. She had over 3000 different varieties. She loved to play the card game “Bouray” when she returned to Toledo to be with her brothers and sisters. She was an aggressive player taking chances with sometimes not much to go on. She must have heard her older brother Paul often say: “Columbus took a chance”…so she did too. She loved the friendly competition and it was just fun and comforting to be with her family. As providence would have it, her sisters Joy and Jackie had their last get together the Sunday before she passed. Dawn must have waited to say farewell. They were always very close. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Stephen (Rip) and Gloria and her brothers: Paul and Jamie. She is survived by her brothers Carl (Joann) Cherry, Steve/Rob (Cookie) Cherry and Tom (Diana) Cherry and Sisters Joy (Ron) Seckinger and Jackie (Dave)  Osstifin. She had seven nieces; Jody, Jen, Diane, Julie, Angie, Sarah and Tiffany. There were also four nephews; Bryan, Steve, Andy and Kane. She also had many great nieces and nephews. Dawn also had two very close loving friends in Oregon; Kim and Dave who spoke with her daily and kept a close eye on her safety and well being. We are most grateful to them. Dawn was a very sweet, loving, kind and gentle soul that will be missed dearly.

The resurrection service will be outdoors June 4, 2021 at 3138 Beachwood Oregon, Ohio with the Rosary beginning at 9am followed by personal memories of Dawn. The resurrection mass will then begin at 10am. Burial will take place at a later date.
