David W. Fryman

David W. Fryman, 67, of Genoa, Ohio, died early Monday morning, May 4, 2020 in his residence after a brief illness.  He was born in Toledo, Ohio to Ervin and Eleanor (Crayford) Fryman on April 25, 1953. On April 25, 1974 he married the love of his life, Stephanie Crone, in St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Millbury, Ohio, and she survives.

Dave earned his Masters degree in Education, from the University of Toledo and went on to teach welding at the Vanguard Sentinel Career & Technologies Center from 1989 until his retirement in 2016. He enjoyed the art of teaching and the friendships he made throughout his career. Dave had also worked for the former Devilbiss Company, of Toledo, for 20 years. Dave, for 27 years, was a dedicated and compassionate member of the former Clay-Genoa Volunteer Fire Dept., later the Allen-Clay Joint Fire Dist., Station #36 in Genoa. He held the positions of captain, EMT and Paramedic along with teaching continuing education courses for his home station and many surrounding departments. Dave was a NASCAR and OSU fan and enjoyed time woodworking, welding and reading, especially Sci-Fi novels. He and Stephanie also enjoyed the time they spent riding Dave’s motorcycle. His family was always the light of his life and they loved his wit, recently he had been texting, daily, ‘Dadisms” to make them laugh! Dave was a kind and loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, and will be missed by many.

Dave is survived by his wife of 46 years, Stephanie; daughters, Shonna (Toby) Eichman, Kari (Brian) Brockschmidt and Erin Boonie; grandchildren, Breanna, Jonathon, Stephanie, Hanna, Harley, Toby, Lily and Violet; and siblings, Dennis (Linda) Fryman, Thomas Fryman and Sally McFarland.  He was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings, Shirlene Gautney, Alvina Krotzer and Erwin “Brother” Fryman.

Due to the current restrictions related to the Corona Virus, there will be a Fireman’s Service for Dave on Saturday, May 16, 2020 at 10 AM in the Clay Township Cemetery, Genoa.  Please exercise social distancing for the wellbeing of the family and others in attendance. The family is planning a special celebration to honor Dave that will be announced at a later date. The Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory of Genoa is assisting the family with arrangements.  Memorials in Dave’s name may be made to the A.C.J.F.D, Station #36, 101 E. 6th St., Genoa, OH 43430.  Online condolences can be shared with the family at www.walkerfuneralhomes.com.
