A new contact between the Village of Walbridge and Police Chief Kenneth Campbell will be on the agenda of village council’s Dec. 15 meeting.
Mayor Ed Kolanko said council members reviewed the contract during a special meeting last week and are prepared to approve it on the 15th.
The contract would go into effect Jan. 1, 2022 and be in effect for five years if approved.
Chief Campbell would receive $64,600 annually in 2022 and receive pay increases of one percent. He would also be eligible for additional pay increases and bonus incentives.
Mayor Kolanko said he and council were pleased with Chief Campbell’s work with the police department. The village hired him in 2018 following the death of the former chief Walt Tylicki.
In other business, village council approved an ordinance Wednesday authorizing the village administrator to purchase property at 100 Main St. for $36,000.
The property includes a building that housed a grocery business.
“There is a lot of passion in the village for the building,” the mayor said. “We are keeping that in mind as we move forward.”
He said the administration’s goal is to use the property to boost economic development.
