Buderer NCAA qualifier

Ohio Northern senior Andrew Buderer (Oak Harbor) has qualified for the 2022 NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships.

Buderer qualified in the pole vault and will compete in the national meet May 26-28 in Geneva, Ohio.

The top 20 individuals in each event earn qualification into the NCAA Championships meet.

Buderer qualified for the national meet with a mark of 4.86 meters in the pole vault at Thursday’s Mount Union Last Chance meet. That height ranks 17th nationally and third all-time at ONU.

The 2021 OAC champion in the outdoor pole vault, Buderer placed second in the event at the 2022 Outdoor OACs.

In mid-May, Buderer led the Ohio Northern for the second and final day of the St. Francis (Ill.) Fighting Chance Invite at Joliet Memorial Stadium. Buderer placed second in the pole vault, clearing a height of 4.4 meters at the meet, which was not team scored.

Buderer, who is also a sprinter, is a three-time Ohio Athletic Conference champion, winning the indoor pole vault twice and outdoor once, and a five-time All-OAC selection. He has earned US Track and Field CCCA All-American status once, All-Great Lakes Region status four times, and has been OAC Field Athlete of the Week twice.
