Trucking industry leader to speak at breakfast forum
Tom Balzer, president & CEO, Ohio Trucking Association, will provide unique insight on efforts that affect the agriculture industry at the Northwest Ohio Ag-Business Breakfast Forum, Thursday, Aug. 15, from 8-9:30 a.m. The event is hosted by the Center for Innovative Food Technology (CIFT) at the Agricultural Incubator Foundation (AIF), 13737 Middleton Pike (SR 582) in Bowling Green.
Transport plays a big role in the safety, efficiency and profitability of agricultural commodities, as many resources are needed to ensure farmers can increase production and grow their operations. With more than 850 members, the Ohio Trucking Association strives to make trucking successful for fleets across the state.
Informal networking will start at 8 a.m., with the program to follow. Walk-ins are welcome; however, guests are encouraged to reserve a seat in advance by visiting ciftinnovation.org.
The cost is $10 per person for those who RSVP, or $12 per person at the door (cash or check). Admission includes breakfast and networking opportunities.
The Northwest Ohio Ag-Business Breakfast Forum is an educational networking opportunity to provide information on current issues, trends and programs available to the agricultural community and those who support its advancement.

Grant writing workshop
A workshop entitled, “Grant Writing 101/102: Finding the Right Funder and Writing a Winning Proposal,” will be held Thursday, Sept. 5 from 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. at the Ottawa Soil and Water Conservation District, Earl Johnson Ag Building, 240 W. Lake St., Oak Harbor.
Sponsored by Ottawa SWCD (local host), Environmental Education Council of Ohio Region 2, and Ohio EPA, Office of Environmental Education, the workshop is free.
Registration is required by Thursday, Aug. 29. Admission is limited to 30 participants. Email dennis.clement@epa.ohio.gov.
