Seedling tree & shrub sale
Ottawa Soil & Water Conservation District is accepting orders for its annual Seedling Tree and Shrub Sale.
Evergreen varieties are sold in packets of 10 and include Colorado Blue Spruce and Norway Spruce.
The district is also offering the fast-growing Green Rocket Cedar, sold individually. These cedars will grow up to 3 feet per year, are deer resistant, have a strong root system, and have demonstrated no major insect problems. They make a great windbreak or privacy screen.
Shellbark Hickory, Bald Cypress, Arborvitae, Black Gum, Tulip Poplar, Sycamore, Bur Oak, Skyrise, Red Oak, and Red Maple are available.
Back for a third year are the Wildlife Tree Pack, the Pollinator Tree Pack and a Nut Tree Pack, which includes five different types of native trees to produce the perfect native habitat.
Prices range from $12-$35. For more info or to obtain an order form, call the Ottawa SWCD office at 419-898-1595. Order forms are also available on the district’s Facebook page or its website at ottawaswcd.com.
The deadline for ordering is April 1. Early ordering is encouraged, as supplies are limited. Money raised from the program supports district education programs throughout the year.
