A Wood County grand jury has indicted a couple for child endangering after police were called to the Baymont Hotel on Oregon Road to check on the safety of a 12-year-old boy.
Jason Sosnowicz, Sr., 42, was indicted on one count of felonious assault, a second degree felony, and two counts of endangering children, third degree felonies. Tabetha Sosnowicz, 38, was charged with two counts of endangering children.
According to an affidavit originally filed with Perrysburg Municipal Court, a Northwood police officer was dispatched July 22 to the hotel and he found the 12-year-old on the floor with his wrists tied behind his back with shoe strings and his wrists tied to his ankles.
Jason Sosnowicz, the boy’s stepfather, reportedly told the officer the youth was tied up because he “gets into things.”
The boy’s mother, Tabetha, arrived a short time later and said she knew the boy was tied up and that they tie him up to keep him from getting into candy while they are sleeping.
The affidavit states the boy had been tied up for 9 ½ hours.
The boy and adults were living at the hotel.
The indictments against the two say they “…did administer corporal punishment or other physical disciplinary measure, or physically restrain the child in a cruel manner or for a prolonged period, which punishment discipline, or restraint was excessive under the circumstances and created a substantial risk of serious physical harm…”
The case was bound over to Wood County Common Pleas Court on Aug. 4.
