The league dominoes are falling again — Elmwood is leaving the Northern Buckeye Conference for the Blanchard Valley Conference and Maumee is leaving the Northern Lakes League to fill Elmwood’s spot.

There needs to be an award for Clay junior wrestler Ty Cobb — at least the biggest heart award.
Cobb came into the Division I state meet at Hilliard Darby High School a 220-pound district champion and unbeaten at 34-0. The odds that Cobb would place high were exactly that — high.

Eastwood wrestling has been finishing second fiddle to other teams all season, like in the Northern Buckeye Conference, where they were runner-up to Elmwood.
Yet, the Eagles can brag that they are No. 10 in the state — something many of those other programs cannot say.

Northwood senior 170-pound wrestler Hunter Schmoekel (21-9) did not place at state, but it was all about his journey getting there. His next journey — he will report to the U.S. Army this summer.

Chippewa Golf Club has been locally owned for nearly 100 years and that tradition will continue for the foreseeable future. Local couple, Karl and Roberta Orians, has purchased the course as of March 5.

The Bass Pro Shops 2021 Rossford Walleye Roundup, scheduled for April 2-3, 2021, has a record 44 registered teams as of March 10. And the fishermen donate their catches. This year, Helping Hands of St. Louis in East Toledo will be getting all the fish to use for their meals they provide.
