Gravel can still make a mountain
The passing of former United States Senator Mike Gravel (D-AK) on June 26 was largely overshadowed by that of former Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld three days later. The same need not be true of their political legacies.

Why do we care in northwestern Ohio about wetlands? Lake Erie and its western basin have a toxic algae problem and when it gets bad, we are unable to drink its water. The Maumee River collects water from its creeks and streams and brings that water to Lake Eric at Maumee Bay.

Better alternative
for battery plant
To the editor: It has been said that there is a price you pay for the good you do. Building a battery plant in Oregon is a good idea. It will provide jobs and income for the city.
