The discovery of fish in a river is usually no big news. But sometimes, certain types and species of fish do make the news. Such was the case of the mystery goldfish that invaded the Portage River almost a century ago. They have been in the river ever since.

At the request of the county engineer’s office, the Ottawa County commissioners have extended the date they had set to complete the vacating of Otto Pfeiffer Ditch.
Property owners along the ditch were issued notices Aug. 15 of the commissioners’ decision.

The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio has granted a request by the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Ohio to stay PUCO’s four ongoing investigations into FirstEnergy’s Ohio utilities and House Bill 6.
The decision by the PUCO postpones its investigations for six months.
