Governor Mike DeWine last week announced that 82 of Ohio's 88 counties are now considered high incidence counties as defined by the federal government. This means that these counties have seen more than 100 cases per 100,000 residents in the last two weeks.

Following the Ohio Department of Health’s Public Health Advisory System, Ottawa County has been elevated to the Red Level 3 Advisory for the first time since the pandemic began.
The county has triggered four of the indicators established to elevate the county from orange to red.
Governor DeWine last week cautioned that the continuing increase in COVID-19 cases indicates that significant numbers of infections are likely this winter unless the public takes steps to mitigate and control the spread of the virus.

A program designed to help entrepreneurs and small-business owners thrive in an economy clouded by the coronavirus pandemic is expanding into Ottawa County.
Lucas County Commissioners, in cutting the budget earlier this year, noted that the sheriff’s office is not required to conduct road patrols in the townships. Legally, the sheriff had certain responsibilities, they said. Road patrols were not among them.

With a few exceptions, area townships, villages and schools in Wood County are asking voters on Nov. 3 to renew existing millage issues rather than asking for additional property taxes.
