Waite High School has more than 100 years of alumni, and included are many great people. The school itself is named after a former chief justice of the U.S. Supreme Court, Morrison R. Waite, who hailed from Toledo.

Recently Lake Elementary teacher Casey Rethman’s second-grade students were given "patients" presenting with symptoms such as “having trouble remembering the meanings of words.” The vocabulary doctors had to give their patients a "text feature transplant" of a glossary. There were 10 patients.
