Highlighted by Second Team All Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference honors for Brad Ammons (Springfield), Zach Brown (Clay), and Cameron Gallo (Middletown Bishop Fenwick), and Gold Glove honors for Jay Denman (St. Francis), Lourdes University had a total of seven players recognized as the league handed out its year-end awards.
Reilly Walters (Bowmanville, Ont.) was named to the WHAC Champions of Character Team while Denman and Gallo joined Sedrick Gonzalez (Blissfield, Mich.) and Jake Tucker (Tucson Canyon Del Oro, Ariz.) on the WHAC All-Academic Team.
Ammons batted .330 as a sophomore with two home runs, 14 runs batted in and 21 runs scored for the Gray Wolves as an outfielder in 2019.  He tallied eight doubles and stole three bases.
Brown led the Gray Wolf pitching staff with three victories and 61.1 innings pitched while posting a 3.38 earned run average.  He struck out 72 hitters on the season while limiting opposing hitters to just a .181 batting average against him.
Gallo led Lourdes with a .344 batting average this season, hitting three home runs while adding a team-high 30 RBI.  He had eight doubles and drew 23 walks for a .426 on base percentage.
Denman, a left fielder, was flawless defensively in 2019 in 57 chances.  He had six outfield assists on the year in earning the Gold Glove for his position.
The WHAC All-Academic Team recognizes junior and senior student-athletes who have a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 or higher.  Denman is a marketing major while Gallo and Tucker are majoring in nursing.  Gonzalez is a business administration major.
In addition, Walters was named to the WHAC Champions of Character Team for displaying the five core values of NAIA: integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership.
