Woodmore school board looking to fill vacancy

The Woodmore school board will be accepting letters of interest until Sept. 3 at 4 p.m. from residents of the school district who would like to serve on the board.
Selected candidates will be interviewed on Sept. 4. Letters may be emailed to Dan Russomanno, district treasurer, at drussomanno@woodmoreschools.com or mailed to: Woodmore Board of Education
349 Rice St., Elmore, OH 43416.
The board is filling a vacant seat held by Sean Rizor, who is resigning as part of an agreement with the Ottawa County prosecutor’s office stemming from a complaint filed by Kelly O’Connor, a Woodville resident.
Rizor was charged with coercion but the case was dismissed in June with conditions, including Rizor complete anger management sessions, have no contact with O’Connor and resign from the board.
He was elected to the board in 2015 and his term ends Dec. 31.
After a board meeting last November, O’Connor filed a report with the Elmore Police Department against Rizor, who was president of the school board at the time.
The report says she stayed after the meeting at Rizor’s request and he began screaming at her. Her report states she recorded the incident with her cell phone.
In his statement, Rizor said O’Connor has harassed him since he ran for a seat on the board.
Rizor was president of the board at the time of the incident.
The school board has scheduled a special meeting for Sept. 4 at 6 p.m. in the Woodmore High School media center, 633 Fremont St., Elmore.
The board will go into executive session to consider the appointment.
