Wildcats return 7

Woodmore volleyball returns seven letter winners, giving second-year coach Ron Nabors optimism about the upcoming season.
“I like the way we have carried over the momentum from last season to this year, now we have to take the next step as we try to move the program forward,” Nabors said. “ I expect us to take that next step this season and we will lean heavily on our only senior, Brooke Allen, and the seven players in our junior class.  We’re excited to get the season underway and test ourselves against some good teams.”
Nabors, who will be assisted by first-year coach Luke Fannin, saw his team go 9-13 overall and 5-9 in the Northern Buckeye Conference, good enough for fifth place last year. Although Woodmore did lose three letter winners to graduation, plenty of height returns.
Front line lettermen returning are 6-foot-1 senior outside hitter, honorable mention All-NBC selection, team captain and three-year letter winner Brooke Allen (243 kills, 27 blocks, 87 digs), 5-9 junior outside hitter and two-time letter winner Sophie Blausey (91 kills, 47 digs, captain), 6-1 junior middle hitter Camryn Ivy (62 kills, 38 blocks), 6-2 sophomore outside hitter Mackenzie Krukemyer and 5-11 junior middle hitter and two-time letter winner Alayna Mierzejewski (82 kills, 45 blocks).
On the defensive side of the ball are 5-9 junior libero and two-year letter winner Karys Becera and 5-4 junior libero Alivia Rowe (191 digs).
Nabors says newcomers expecting to contribute are junior setter Sarah Smathers, sophomore defensive specialist Marissa Tracy and junior setter Annie Wellons.
