Terra State hires Gregg Hedden as new baseball coach

Terra State Community College has hired Gregg Hedden as the new baseball coach.

“I am excited to welcome Gregg Hedden, as well as announce the addition of the baseball program to Terra State,” said President Dr. Ron Schumacher,

“We are excited to provide another athletic opportunity to our students and I know that Gregg will create a successful program, both athletically and academically.”

Hedden, from Fremont, has built his career on coaching and preparing students academically. Hedden has spent over 37 years in numerous roles in education and coaching, including 35 years at Port Clinton High School. The last 22 of those 35 years were spent a partnership with Port Clinton High School and Vanguard Career and Technical Center.

“I am extremely excited about becoming part of the Titan family and offering student athletes a chance to play baseball and further their education at Terra State,” said Hedden.

He joins Terra State with plenty of experience in baseball and other sports. Hedden served as assistant athletic director for 19 years at Port Clinton High School, assistant coach for basketball, football and baseball for Port Clinton High School, head basketball coach for Margaretta High School and 28 years as a baseball umpire at the high school and collegiate level.

Most recently, Hedden was head baseball coach for Margaretta High School from 2015 to 2019 and is currently the acting secretary and treasurer for the Sandusky Bay Conference, which includes 22 member high schools in the area.

“I would like to welcome Gregg Hedden, our new baseball coach, to Terra State Community College and the Titan family. Gregg brings a wealth of experience and knowledge not only in the game of baseball but also for our student athletes academically,” said Athletic Director Frank Gioffre.

The baseball program is currently recruiting, with ten students already enrolled and hopes to enroll 30 student athletes total by the start of the program in January of 2022. The team will play NJCAA Division III community college teams from across Ohio and the area.
