Susan M. Scaife

Susan M. Scaife, 65, of Woodville, Ohio, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, February 12, 2020, at the Toledo Hospital after several weeks of illness.  She was born in Oregon, Ohio on August 11, 1954, the daughter of William T. and Frances (Meng) Harris.  She graduated from Woodmore High School and Penta County Vocational School in 1972.  Susan was a print setter at St. Charles Hospital, in Oregon, for 24+ years retiring in 1999.  She married John R. Scaife at Mainstreet Church, Moline, Ohio, on April 30, 2018 and he survives.
Susan was an animal and nature lover who enjoyed being outside.  She traveled all over the United States but had a great connection to the southwest and the American Indian culture.  Throughout her life she enjoyed the beauty of Lake Erie, spending time with her beloved family at the family cottage.  Family was very important to her as she was to them.  Sue was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Genoa for many years where she and her mother spent countless hours volunteering, especially with the Grotto Committee.
Sue is survived by her husband, John, brother, Joe (Shawnee) Harris, Cindy Whitner, and many loving nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Fran, first husband, William Zunk, and siblings, John Harris, Nancy Vogelpohl and Kathy Peters.
Susan’s selfless dedication to others, motivated her to donate her body to the University of Toledo Medical Center for anatomical study.  To honor her life the family has scheduled a memorial service for Saturday, March 7, 2020 at 1 PM at the Mainstreet Church, 5465 Moline-Martin Road, Walbridge, Ohio 43465.  Immediately following the service a gathering and meal will be served in the church hall where you may share your memories of Sue.  Interment will be at a later date in the Clay Township Cemetery, Genoa.  Anyone who would like to make a donation in Sue’s memory may direct them to the Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge, 14000 St. Rt. 2, Oak Harbor, Ohio, 43449.  The Robinson-Walker Funeral Home of Genoa, Ohio is assisting with arrangements.  Online condolences may be made to the family at www.walkerfuneralhomes.com.
