Walbridge student accepted
Colette Askins, of Walbridge, is a new member of Albion College's Lisa and James Wilson Institute for Medicine.
The Wilson Institute supports and prepares students to be physicians, dentists, veterinarians, and other healthcare professionals through an academic curriculum and immersive clinical, research, and community service initiatives.
A graduate of Lake High School, Askins is a first-year student at Albion College, a private liberal arts college of approximately 1,500 students located in Albion, Michigan.
R.C. Waters top Class Dojo Winners
R.C. Waters Elementary participates in a schoolwide initiative called Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS).
PBIS includes adoption of a unified set of expectations for behavior, helping to create a safe and productive learning environment. These expectations, in place in every classroom and non-classroom settings in the school, include “Be Respectful, Be Responsible, and Be Ready.”
Student behavior is documented using a tool called Class Dojo – a behavior tracking system that reinforces positive behaviors and quickly engages students in becoming accountable for their own choices. On a scheduled rotation, students are able to “shop” from the Dojo reward cart using the points they have earned for meeting the behavior expectations.
The top Class Dojo winners for October include:
Kindergarten: Ty Bloomer, Brynlee Supinski, Isabelle Widmer, Abby Schlagheck, Erica Terrell, Lane Argue, Valerie Fausey, Caralyn Boss and James Lowe.
First grade: Alex Pickering, Zach Sindeldecker, Violet Wilson, Beckett Sweet, Lorraina Reif, Hudson Hathaway, Addisynn Lenke, and Cody Rickus.
Second grade: Josh Miller, Emily Krohn, Alayna Forsythe, Lexi Hayes, Ethan Key, Cooper Sweet, Isabel Meyer, and Emma Schlagheck.
Third grade: Natalie Lenke, Annabelle Toris, Kaylee Laubacher, Ainzley Johnson, Thomas Mills, Boston Haas, Justice Kwiatkowski, Blake Gaines, Myah Donalds and Olivia Matusas.
St. Ursula Academy students earn honors
St. Ursula Academy announced 2020 fall-season athletic and academic recognition from the Three Rivers Athletic Conference (TRAC) earned by Oregon-area residents.
Cross country – Morgan MacDonald, First Team and All-Academic.
Golf – Payton Donnelly, Golfer of the Year, First Team; First Team All-District and All-Academic.
Volleyball – Kenady Cox, All-Academic; Aly Finch, First Team; First Team All-District and All-Academic.
