Rosemary Kathryn "Kathy" Meagher

Rosemary Kathryn “Kathy” Meagher 72, of Toledo, Ohio passed away surrounded by her loving family on March 24, 2023 after a courageous battle with cancer. After her diagnosis she made the most of the time she had. Spending time visiting with family and fulfilling bucket list items such as a dream trip to Alaska. Kathy was born in Toledo, Ohio on September 11, 1950 to Russell and Shirley (Hamilton) Varwig. She graduated from Waite High School Class of 69’ and then went on to obtain her associates degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Toledo. Mrs. Meagher worked as a Paraprofessional for 34 years in the Toledo Public Schools System retiring on June 1, 2020. She also worked for the Metro Press for many years. Kathy had a passion for teaching, mentoring and being the Berry Street mother, and grandmother to so many kids over the years. She taught generations of families that still to this day remember her and enjoy sharing stories of her. Kathy enjoyed spending time at the Rossford Senior Center, going to craft shows, garage sales, and traveling. She was actively involved with the support group, Mom’s S.O.U.L. Kathy was dedicated to her family, making sure to take them on amazing adventures, camping in various locations, but most notably Harrison Lake, Hocking Hills, and Maumee Bay. She was a selfless woman who always made sure everyone else was taken care of. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
 
Rosemary is survived by her daughters, Christine Meagher, Frances (T.J.) O’Connor; grandchildren, Craig (Sarah) Meagher, Alexis (Mark) Smith, Andrew “Drew” (Vicky) Meagher Jr., Nickalos Meagher, Lacey Burlew, Douglas Burlew III, Mercer Meagher; great-grandchildren, Rain and Willow Meagher and one on the way; sisters, Shirley “Jean” (Bob) Clark, Virginia (Lorrie) Varwig; sister-in-law, Tina Varwig; many nieces, nephews and loving extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; sons, James Meagher Jr., Andrew Meagher Sr., and brother, Russell Varwig Jr.
 
The family will receive friends at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road on Saturday, April 1, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of memorial service at 2:00 p.m. Memorial contributions in Kathy’s name may be directed to Mom’s S.O.U.L., 1870 South Freedom Drive, Northwood, Ohio 43619. The family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to Jenny Abner for the compassionate care that she provided. Inurnment will be private at Toledo Memorial Park.
