Rep. Sobecki announces restoration of $2 million grant for the 2021 Solheim Cup

COLUMBUS – State Rep. Lisa Sobecki (D-Toledo) expressed appreciation following today’s Controlling Board meeting, where they approved the restoration of a $2 million grant for the 2021 Solheim Cup, which will be held in Toledo next fall.
 
“During Gov. DeWine’s across the board reductions in state spending, the administration inadvertently took away funding for the 2021 Solheim Cup despite a signed contract guaranteeing that funding. Today’s actions by the Controlling Board represented weeks of advocacy and discussion on behalf of Greater Toledo, and I appreciate the administration fixing their mistake,” said Rep. Sobecki.
 
The Solheim Cup is one of the world’s largest events for women’s professional golf. According to Destination Toledo, the 2021 Solheim Cup is expected to bring 150,000 visitors to Northwest Ohio and generate $20 million in economic activity.
