Paul J. Russell

In loving memory of Paul J. Russell, 83, of Oak Harbor, who passed away peacefully at home on March 25, 2021, with his wife, Karen, by his side. Paul was born on April 6, 1937, to parents Michael and Genevieve Russell in Toledo and graduated from Macomber Vocational School in 1955. In 1980, Paul married Karen, whom he met in Toledo, and they moved to Oak Harbor to enjoy life in the country. Paul had a long career at Toledo Edison, and he retired in 1993 as an Instrument and Control Foreman at the Davis Besse Nuclear Power Station. After retirement, Paul enjoyed traveling with Karen to places such as Florida, Arizona, and the Great Smoky Mountains in Tennessee. He enjoyed cooking, gardening, and John Wayne movies as well as spending time with, and sharing his life experiences with his children and grandchildren. Paul enjoyed staying up to date with current affairs as well debating about them. Paul was diagnosed with stage IV lung cancer in 2015, which he conquered, motivated by his desire to remain here with his wife, Karen, and his family. Paul is survived by his loving wife, Karen; sons Michael (Rhonda) Russell and Kendrick Jesionowski; daughter Melissa Ellis; grandchildren Connie (Brian) Orleski, Jackie Russell, Trent Ellis, Theo Jesionowski, Trevor Ellis, Cam Jesionowski, and Tyler Ellis; five great-grandchildren; brothers Michael (Maureen) Russell, John (Mari) Russell, and Edward Russell; and Karen Jesionowski, whom Paul regarded as like a daughter. The family would like to thank the nurses and his care team from Ohio Living Home Health & Hospice. There will be no services held, at Paul’s request.
