Guy Parmigian, superintendent of the Benton-Carroll-Salem School District, has accepted a faculty position at Madonna University in Livonia, Michigan.
He plans to start in August, 2020, following eight years at his current position with B-C-S.
“Teaching at the university level has always been a professional dream of mine. With the district in a very strong position, and Madonna being a great fit for me, it seems like a good time to pass the torch to a new leader who will help to write the next chapter of this incredible and high performing school district institution,” Parmigian said.
His new duties will include chairing the Teacher Education Department, teaching pre-service teacher courses, as well as teaching educational leadership courses.
“I am tremendously thankful to our board of education who have always supported and trusted me to lead this school system forward through the monumental challenges and opportunities over the past eight years. Being the superintendent of B-C-S has been one of the greatest honors and privileges of my life. I am incredibly proud to have served our family of staff, students, and community. ”
He will continue working as superintendent through the end of July 2020.
B-C-S board president Kim Dusseau commented: “On behalf of the board of education in regards to Dr. Parmigian leaving, we would like to give a huge thank you for everything that he has accomplished during his time as our leader. He has helped make us financially whole with all his time and effort that he committed to our community, our staff, and our students. The passing of two levies is a huge accomplishment. His leadership with our administrators has brought B-C-S to the forefront as being one of the best school districts in the area. Dr. Parmigian leaves us not for another school district, but to pursue his passion of moving to the next level and that is to be teaching at a university. We wish him well in his next endeavor, but he will be greatly missed at B-C-S.”
