Oak Harbor relay teams win district titles

At the Division II district track meet, Oak Harbor girls placed second, scoring 88 ½ points to finish behind Galion (102) and the boys finished third, scoring 79 to place behind Perkins (108) and Shelby (101½).
The 4x100 relay team of junior Sophia Eli, freshman Hannah Schulte and sophomores Paige Clune and Elayna Krupp won a district title, finishing in 49.76, less than half a second off the record set by a Rogers team in 2011.
The Rockets’ 4x100 team of junior Hope Sievert and sophomores Emily Haar, Abby Below and Krupp won a district title, finishing in 4:05.12, narrowly winning over the runner-up Shelby team (4:05.28).
On the boys team, Oak Harbor senior Brandon Elmes won the 110 meter hurdles, finishing in 15.08 to cross the line before Shelby senior Uriah Schwemley (15.19).
Elmes was joined by senior Ajay Reichman and juniors Tyler May and Aidan Barton to win the 4x100 relay in a time of 43.27, just ahead of Perkins (43.61).
Lake’s 4x200 relay team of senior Mya Staczek, junior Colette Askins and freshmen Colette Askins and Ava Ayers a D-II district title, finishing in 1:47.62 to beat the second place team from Galion (1:47.91), by just over one-quarter of a second.
Genoa senior Noah Koch won the shot put (56-6¾) and the discus (176-2).
