‘Purls of Wisdom’
Adults are invited to learn to knit Mondays at 3 p.m. at the Walbridge Branch Library, 108 N. Main St.
With this introductory course, participants will learn the basic stitches to get started with knitting. Knitting needles and yarn will be provided.

Artist to speak
Bill Hinsch, the artist recognized for his painting of Ohio astronauts which was recently installed in the Ohio Statehouse Rotunda, will present at The Waterford at Levis Commons, 7100 S. Wilkinson Way, Perrysburg on Monday, April 22 at 2 p.m. RSVP is requested by calling 419-874-2564.
Hinsch’s evocative portraits of aviation and military heroes are displayed in prestigious locations like the Pentagon and the National Air Force Museum in Dayton, as well as in corporate collections worldwide. He is the co-inventor of the “Learning Map” art form, developed in Perrysburg in the early 1990s.
Hinsch lives in Perrysburg with his wife of 42 years, Carol, who works in the dining services department at The Waterford at Levis Commons.

Toledo Toy Show
The Toledo Toy Show returns to TOCA Toledo (formerly Total Sports) in Rossford on Saturday, April 20, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
The show will feature more than 200 tables with NASCAR, Hot Wheels, Star Wars, Matchbox cars, Tonka, PEZ, dolls, trains, tractors, sports cards, slot cars, models, comics, tin toys, action figures, diecast trucks, cartoon characters and more. Concessions will be available.
TOCA Toledo is located at 10020 S. Compass Drive in Rossford, behind Meijer on SR 20. Admission is $5 per person, with kids under 12 admitted free.

P.E.R.I chapter to meet
P.E.R.I. Chapter #93, Lucas County District 1, will meet Thursday, April 25, from 1-2:15 p.m. at the Hungarian Club of Toledo, 224 Paine Ave., Toledo. Additional parking is available across the street at the Birmingham Branch Library (use the parking spots farthest away from the library entrance).
Bring questions about O.P.E.R.S. benefits and Wage Elimination Provision (WEP) and Government Offset Provisions (GPO).
All P.E.R.I. members, pre-O.P.E.R.S. retirees of Lucas County and surrounding areas are welcome. Masks are optional, but welcome. Refreshments will be available during the break.

Fatal car/train
crash under
investigation

The Bowling Green post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal car/train accident Tuesday in Millbury.
The preliminary investigation indicates a Honda Accord, driven by Daniella Gamboa Pabon, 25, Toledo, was southbound on N. Fostoria Road when her vehicle was struck by an eastbound train.
The accident occurred at approximately 9:45 a.m. on April 16.
The rail tracks are located between State Rt. 795 and State Rt. 51.
Pabon succumbed to her injuries at the scene.
OCTID meeting
The Board of the Ottawa County Transportation Improvement District will hold its regular meeting on May 23 at 8:30 a.m., at the county engineer’s office, 8247 W State Route #163, Oak Harbor.
