Local woman honored for 50 years of service
A local woman recently celebrated 50 years of employment with Applied Industrial Technologies, a supplier of bearings, power transmission parts, fluid power and industrial parts, based in Cleveland. The company is a leading value-added distributor and technical solutions provider, operating more than 600 locations with more than 6,000 associates worldwide.
Joan Foss Flayler graduated from Oak Harbor High School and Tiffin University. She began her career with Applied (then known as Detroit Ball Bearing) working in customer service in the Toledo office. She quickly was recognized by the Toledo manufacturing buyers as someone they could trust to get what they needed on a timely basis.
She was promoted to a sales manager position a few years later. She has a customer base of 60 Toledo-area manufacturers which she personally calls on to make sure they are up-to-date on all the products she can supply to them. Her responsibilities include quoting jobs, taking orders and communicating with her team members to make sure orders can and will be supplied on time,
A group of Flayler’s customers and coworkers recently surprised her with a luncheon recognizing her achievements.
Flayler says she has no plans on slowing down anytime soon.
