Poor attendance
at board meetings
To the editor: I recently attended an Oregon school board meeting and it was a big disappointment. Not with the school board but with the citizens and parents.
Our school boards may be the most important key to our society. They oversee and direct a major part of molding and directing the formation of society’s foundation for our future - our children and youth.
The disappointment was the attendance at the meeting. Only three people attended; only three out of
23,250 citizens attended the meeting.
That is the effort we are putting into probably the most important political jobs in our society today.
These board members direct about one third of the time and even a greater amount of the educational formation of our youth – the very youth that will run our society tomorrow when we need them the most.
I suspect this is happening at all school districts.
Lastly, I include myself in this rebuke.
The next meeting is Aug. 17 at 6 p.m.

Role of the rich
To the editor: A few weeks ago on a Detroit radio station I heard a very scary program.
The world’s richest people have an organization that meets a few times a year to discuss ways to make things better in our lives.
We all have helped to destroy our planet. Our lakes, rivers, oceans and drinking water are polluted. Our air is full of wastes from cars, boats, airplanes and factories. Our food products are not pure anymore.
We settle our problems by sending our young people off to war – mostly to defend the profits of American companies overseas.
The foreign countries have not invaded us.
Our justice system is a joke. Years ago if you killed someone you would go to the electric chair never to return to kill again. Under today’s system, you might go to prison for a few years and be released to kill again.
I’ll never understand why anyone would want them back on the streets.
Back to the richest people. Could it be they have found a way to reduce the world’s population, get rid of drugs, crime and unfair taxes? Maybe this pandemic was created by some groups to thin out the herd and part of a germ warfare program. Now they want us to get inoculated with another unknown product that could, in time, damage our bodies.
If you have all the money in the world you can control the population.
God help us.
