Lake, O’Connor, Ewerson advance to district tourney

At the Division I sectional tournament at Stone Ridge Golf Club in Bowling Green, Clay senior Jason O’Connor shot 39-42—81 to advance to the district tournament as an individual.

Clay finished sixth out of 14 teams, scoring 337 points. Other Clay golfers were sophomore Vinny Gallaher (41-43—84), sophomore Brock Fussel (41-44—85), senior Aden Vriezelaar (40-47—87) and senior Spencer Fortier (47-43—90). 

In Division II, The Lake team qualified for district play after finishing third at Heatherdowns Country Club in South Toledo. In the 12-team sectional, Lake shot 370 to finish behind Swanton (353) and Wauseon (364).

For the Flyers, junior Myles Lowe shot 40-45—85, junior Chase Osborn shot 48-43—91, senior Ben Luoma shot 51-45—96, sophomore Ryan Wagner shot 45-53—98 and senior Jack Walsh shot 53-55—108.

Genoa junior Jake Ewerson also advanced to district after shooting 43-45—88. The Comets placed fifth as a team, scoring 374. Other Genoa golfers were sophomore Jon Huston (46-44—90), freshman Isaac Ewerson (47-47—94), freshman Alex Large (55-47—102) and freshman Caleb Klatt (62-54—116).

Oak Harbor (387) placed seventh and Eastwood (393) finished ninth. For the Rockets, senior Grant Belcher shot 44-46—90, followed by junior Karson Lajti (44-49—93), junior Karter Lajti 49-51—100), senior Brenden Hess (54-40—104) and junior Will Rahm (53-52—105). Eastwood golfers were junior Tristan Schuerman (44-45—89), senior Lucas Gallaher (49-51—100), senior Ethan Edelbrock (47-54—101), junior Trent Marten (48-55—103) and senior Zach Buehler (53-58—113).
