Karen Sue (Boedecker) Mericle

Karen Sue (Boedecker) Mericle, born December 4, 1942 in Kossuth, Ohio, passed away peacefully on June 2, 2021 in Las Vegas after a recent illness.  A long time resident of Oregon, Ohio she resided in Bullhead City, AZ for the past twelve years.

She graduated from Spencerville Schools, married James in 1961, and recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.  Karen worked as a church secretary for many years, and after finishing Central Travel School finished her career as a travel agent.  She loved to travel, was an avid reader, enjoyed card games and puzzles, and liked to cross stitch.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Harold and Betty Boedecker, and is survived by husband James, sister Jeanne Gibson (Buckland), brother Bill Boedecker (Spencerville), and sons Tony (Nancy), Stephen, and David (Amy) and daughters Debra Filar (Ken) and Jennifer Witte (Fred).  Karen is also survived by nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, July 31 from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. at Christ United Methodist Church, 5757 Starr Extension, Oregon, Ohio, with a testimonial prayer service beginning at 1:30 p.m.  Donations in Karen’s memory can be sent to Kossuth Zion United Methodist Church, Spencerville, Ohio, or the National Kidney Foundation.
