Grand jury in Ottawa County issues indictments

The Ottawa County Grand Jury had indicted the following persons, according to Prosecuting Attorney James VanEerten:
-Matthew Gonzalez, who is currently being held in the Ottawa County Detention Facility, has been indicted on six counts of rape and two counts of Intimidation of a witness. According to reports of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office, Gonzalez allegedly engaged in sexual conduct with two victims under the age of 10 during a six-month period in 2021 and 2022.
-Tevon Gordon Wedge, Oak Harbor, has been indicted on four counts of pandering sexually-oriented matter involving a minor, all felonies of the fourth degree. According to reports of the Oak Harbor Police Department, Wedge was found in possession of pornographic images depicting minors earlier this year.
-Carlos Vidal Quiles, Oak Harbor, has been charged with one felony count of domestic violence, after he allegedly caused physical harm to a pregnant family or household member in April.
-Herbert Lewis, whose last known address is Port Clinton, was indicted on one count of aggravated burglary and two counts of domestic violence, after he allegedly entered a Port Clinton residence on April 24 and assaulted two occupants of the home. Lewis reportedly has two or more prior domestic violence convictions, making these charges felonies of the third degree.
-Justin Marlow, whose last known address is Toledo, was charged with one count of criminal nonsupport of dependents. According to records of the Ottawa County Department of Job and Family Services, Marlow failed to pay court-ordered child support for a minor dependent from November, 2019 through October, 2021.
-Dennis Harrell, Sherrodsville, O., is facing multiple felony charges, including burglary, breaking and entering, and theft. According to reports of the Marblehead Police Department, Harrell entered a Marblehead residence and two garages last month, taking items valued at over $1,000.
-Herbert Johnston, Madison, O., has been charged with felony counts of Improper Handling of Firearms and Carrying Concealed Weapons, along with three counts of possession of drugs. Johnston is accused of being in possession of a loaded firearm, along with several controlled substances, during a traffic stop in Oak Harbor on April 22.
-Mitchell Steven Inclan, Perry, O., has been indicted on one count of failure to comply, a felony of the third degree, after troopers of the Ohio State Highway Patrol attempted to stop him last September. Inclan led officers on a chase through several Ohio counties and into the State of Michigan.
-Tracie Jean Durfey, Toledo, and Corey Amonette, Walbridge, were each indicted on one count of possession of a fentanyl-related compound, following a traffic stop by troopers of the Ohio State Highway Patrol last August. Durfey is also facing charges of possession of drug paraphernalia; Amonette is facing an additional charge of possession of amphetamine.
-Daniel Luis Barreiro, Lorain, has been charged with felony possession of marijuana, after he was stopped for a traffic offense on the Ohio Turnpike by the Ohio State Highway Patrol last summer. Upon searching his vehicle, troopers reportedly found over 60 pounds of marijuana in the trunk.
-Lauren Spears, Port Clinton, was charged with one count each of possession of Alprazolam and possession of a fentanyl-related Compound. Officers of the Port Clinton Police Department reportedly found Spears in possession of the drugs last September.
-Samantha Bowser, whose last known address is Tennessee, has been indicted on multiple counts of making false alarms, obstructing official business, falsification, and tampering with evidence. According to reports of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office and the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation, Bowser filed false police reports in numerous jurisdictions over the past several months.
Summonses have been issued for Johnston, Durfey, Amonette, and Spears. They have been scheduled to make their initial appearance in the Ottawa County Court of Common Pleas on May 25. Warrants have been issued for all other defendants.
