Genoa Retirement Village resident celebrates 100th birthday

        Genoa Retirement Village honored assisted living resident Ned Ammons as he turned 100 years old on March 1. Ammons, was surrounded by his wife, two brothers, his three children and a number of other family members and friends as he blew out the candles.
        Highlights of the celebration include yard decorations and a heartfelt toast by Ammons’ daughter, Linda, who highlighted how the centenarian has been a rock for their family throughout the years.
        In honor of his “big birthday,” Ammons received a proclamation from the Ottawa County Commissioners, and a certificate of achievement from Ottawa County Senior Resources. He also received in the mail a letter from President Biden wishing him a happy birthday
        Ammons is one of nine children – seven boys and two girls. He and his wife, Ruth, have been living at Genoa Retirement Village since October 2022.
        The couple, who have three children, six grandchildren and many great-grands, will be observing another big milestone this month as they celebrate 79 years of marriage on March 26.
