Gale F. Pfleghaar

Gale F. Pfleghaar, 74, of Genoa, Ohio, passed away on Friday, November 25, 2022, at Ayden of Waterville, after a lengthy illness. Gale was born on January 22, 1948, in Toledo, Ohio, the son of Frederich and Alfreda (Estel) Pfleghaar. He married Carolyn A. (McCormick) at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Maumee, Ohio, on July 8, 1972.
Gale had worked for the former Foodtown supermarkets, starting when he graduated from high school and continuing for the next 35 years. At the time of his retirement he held the second highest seniority in the entire company. Gale worked for several of the area stores, starting with Maumee and Rossford and ending his tenure at the Northwood store, across from the former Woodville Mall.
Gale had a very dry sense of humor that could make you laugh out loud or bring a smirk to your face, a trait he has passed to his daughters. He was always busy doing something, cutting wood for the winter in his woods, fishing, hunting small game and farming. For many years, Gale transported band instruments to many performances, in his pick-up, as there was no “band truck”.
Gale will be remembered by his wife as her best friend and confidante. They enjoyed working together and raising their family. His daughters will remember their dad for taking them to the Woodville Mall; all three at the same time and seeing him on his tractor in his orange jumpsuit. Gale enjoyed a good meal prepared by Carolyn and looked forward to any kind of pie, which he said should be “eaten first, with fingers” because they were “invented before forks!”. If he was in the mood for a snack, black licorice or chocolate covered cherries were the first on the list.
Gale is survived by his loving wife of over 50 years, Carolyn, daughters, Jocelyn (Mark) Lewis, Sarah (John) Rapparlie, Sadie (James) Barker, grandsons, Hayden Sugg, Ollie Barker, Merritt Lewis, brother, Nelson (Patricia) Pfleghaar and sister, Martha (Scott) Evans, along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and son, David Pfleghaar.
Visitation for Gale will be held from 2:00-6:00 PM, on Thursday, December 1, 2022, at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 501 West St., Genoa, Ohio. The family will hold an informal time of sharing, starting at 6:00 PM, on Thursday evening.  A graveside service is scheduled for 11:00 AM, Friday, December 2, 2022, at the Westwood Cemetery, Woodville, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, Grand Central Station, P.O. Box 4777, New York, NY 10163. Online condolences may be shared at www.walkerfuneralhomes.com.
