Fremont, Toledo speedways cancel upcoming events

Due to the extension of the state and federal governments' "stay at home" order through May 1 in an effort to combat the spread of the COVID-19 virus pandemic, Fremont Speedway officials have postponed the April 18 and April 25 events.
Track officials will continue to monitor the ever-changing situation and make adjustments to the 2020 racing schedule as needed to comply with the state's orders.
"Right now we are looking at possible make-up dates for these two events. We want our race fans, race teams and track staff to be safe and stay healthy and encourage everyone to do their part when it comes to social distancing and to stay at home if at all possible. If everyone follows the guidelines we can save lives and can get back to having fun at the track," said Ryan Schiets, Fremont Speedway Board of Directors member.
Schiets added should the "stay at home" order be extended past May 1, Fremont Speedway officials are looking at possibly extending the racing season into the middle of October.
"We are looking at every possible scenario to give our fans and race teams as many opportunities as possible and that includes extending the season into October. If that option is utilized we would still make the Jim and Joanne Ford Classic our finale, and just move it ahead a month if necessary," Schiets said
For the time being, the season opener for "The Track That Action Built" is scheduled for Saturday, May 2 for the Custom Metal Works Open Wheel Shoot-Out featuring All Pro Aluminum Cylinder Heads/Kistler Racing Products Attica Fremont Championship Series Presented by the Baumann Auto Group winged 410 sprints, the 305/NRA 360 challenge and the MPD Racing Buckeye Outlaw Sprint Series non-wing sprints.

Attica extends through April
In accordance with the state and federal governments extension of the "state at home" orders through the month of April to combat the COVID-19 pandemic, Attica Raceway Park has cancelled all events this month. That includes the cancellation of the Core & Main Spring Nationals originally set for Friday and Saturday, April 10 and 11, the opener of the All Pro Aluminum Cylinder Heads/Kistler Racing Products Attica Fremont Championship Series Presented by the Baumann Auto Group on April 17 and racing on April 24.
"The Governor's order is in effect until May 1. We encourage ALL our fans and race teams to practice the social distancing guidelines. The more people do this the faster we can get back to doing what we enjoy and the more lives we save," said Rex LeJeune, Director of Operations at ARP. "We will continue to keep an eye on the ever-changing situation and provide updates about our schedule on all our social media platforms."

Toledo, Flat Rock cancels
Due to challenges related to the coronavirus pandemic, including State and Federal guidelines and mandates, and most importantly the health and safety of our race fans, race teams and race officials, both Flat Rock and Toledo Speedway's 2020 racing schedules have been adjusted.         "We will monitor the guidances of State and Federal government and healthcare authorities," said Ron Drager, Owner and Promoter of the tracks. "As timelines become better defined and approved activities designated we will announce schedule updates. We stand aligned together with healthcare workers, first responders and public health officials as we continue to work through these difficult times. We encourage everyone to keep informed of developments through official CDC (www.cdc.gov) and WHO (www.who.int) updates and to use recommended best practice precautions such as frequent handwashing, use of hand sanitizer and covering coughs and sneezes appropriately."

Crews from the Bedford Fence Company completed the installation of the new catch fencing in turns 1 and 2 at Flat Rock Speedway. The over-hang fencing was finished March 20. The new concrete wall was poured in early December.
Due to the State of Michigan "stay at home" order for non-essential business, work has stopped on the re-wiring and revamping of the public address system for the pit area.
Asphalt repair in front of the wall on the track side will also take place when the asphalt plants open for the season, or when the order is lifted. The track is also slated for a crack-filling project prior to the first race.
