ETC: Yard sale, car show set to benefit Stony Ridge Community Park

        The Stony Ridge Civic Association will host a yard sale fundraiser to benefit Stony Ridge Community Park July 23-24 from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. in the park shelterhouse. The entrance to the park is located on Stony Ridge Road, off Route 20.
        The association is seeking donations of items to sell. Items may be dropped off at the shelterhouse Wednesdays July 7 and 14 from 4:30-5 p.m. Call Christine at 419-779-7543 to arrange other drop-off times. 
        The association will also present a Car Show Sunday, Aug. 1 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the park.
        There is a $5 registration fee. The event will include door prizes, a silent auction, food trucks and entertainment by Cruisin’ Zeake. A limited supply of free coffee and donuts will be available.
        All proceeds raised from the events will go toward park operating and maintenance costs.

Virtual book discussion
        Join the Wood County District Public Library’s Children’s Place for a virtual discussion of “How to Steal a Dog,” by Barbara O’Connor on Monday, July 26 at 6 p.m.
        “How to Steal a Dog” tells the story of a young girl struggling to see what’s right when everything else seems wrong. The book is available for checkout from Bowling Green and Walbridge libraries.

Summer Parks Tour
        The Oregon Jerusalem Historical Society and Oregon Parks & Rec are partnering to present a Summer Parks Tour to encourage area residents to get out and enjoy free activities available in the community.
         The self- driving tour includes 16 different sites. Participants are invited to take the tour at their leisure.

Garden tour set for July 10 in Pemberville
        The Friends of the Pemberville Library will present their 2021 Garden Tour Saturday, July 10 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. The rain date is Sunday July 11.
        The tour will include the gardens at five Pemberville homes, including:
        • Greg and Lisa Whitacre, 4490 Devils Hole Rd.
        • Matt and Holly Chappuies, 5387 Sugar Ridge Rd.
        • Gary and Deb Krukemyer, 14570 New Rochester Rd.
        • Rick and Lisa Meyer, 16310 N. River Rd.
        • Bob and Marcia Mazur, 160 Joyce Ave.
        Tickets for the Garden Tour are $10 and are available at the library or at each home on the day of the tour. COVID-19 protocols will be observed during the tour. Mask and social distancing recommendations should be observed.

Magruder Hospital VIP Club Day Trip
        Magruder’s VIP Club On-the-Go is planning a day trip to Cleveland on Wednesday, Aug. 4.
        The cost is $94 per person. The trip departs from the Port Clinton City County Complex at 1868 East Perry St. at 7 a.m. Participants are asked to arrive between 6:30-6:45 a.m.
        The group will also tour a shrine church in the heart of Slavic Village, see a nine-hole golf course built on reclaimed steel mill land overlooking Cleveland’s Steel Valley, sightsee the Tremont neighborhood, and make a stop at the world-famous Westside Market. The trip also includes Cleveland’s inner-city vineyard – Chateau Hough, Coventry-on-the-Heights, and an inland lake. Lunch at an authentic Hungarian Restaurant is included.
