The Elmore Kiwanis distributed bicycle helmets to Woodmore youths at an event held July 11.
The helmets were delivered by Ohio District Kiwanis Governor Tim Cornelius and his wife Anne, in connection with the First Family Project for 2019-20 year, which is “Prevention of Kids Head Trauma.”
Safe Kids of Greater Toledo helped fit the helmets and coordinated with the Elmore and Woodville Police departments to put on a Bike Safety Rodeo. DeSTAZio’s, Elmore, sold pizza and pop and Spokes Life Cycles gave out cards for a free bike safety check.
The Kiwanis thanked Elmore Mayor Rick Claar for his support and participation in the event; the Harris-Elmore Public Library for publicizing the event and Woodmore High School Resource Officer Laura Condon for coordinating and promoting the event.
Any Woodmore youth under the age of 14 who would like to have a bicycle helmet this summer may call Amy Laity at 419-862-3053. The Elmore Police Department is continuing to register bikes.
