Elizabeth "Babe" M. Fisher

Elizabeth “Babe” M. Fisher, 98, of Martin, Ohio, died Sunday, July 25, 2021, at her granddaughter’s residence after a lingering illness.  Babe was born in Martin on February 21, 1923, the daughter of Arthur C. and Nina M. (Post) Witt.  She married James C. Fisher in Martin in 1946 and he preceded her in death on September 2, 1968.  

Babe worked for the former Yankee Peddler Store in Genoa and in her early years at the former Fanny Farmer Candy Company in downtown Toledo.  She was always active and enjoyed shopping with her daughter and granddaughters and working in her flower gardens.  She played the piano and was a lifelong member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Genoa.  As she grew older, she drew great pleasure in watching the wildlife out in the back yard and being with her great-grandchildren.

Babe is survived by her daughter, Linda (David) Bertok; granddaughter, Diandra (Ben) Galandiuk; grandson, Cy (Jena) Twete; great granddaughters, Palmer Jan Twete and Brianna Mae Galandiuk; and her sister, Audrey Yackee.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Timothy Fisher;  daughter Jan Twete; and granddaughter Brianna Bertok-Schack.

A funeral service will be held at 11:30 AM, Monday, August 2, 2021, at St. John’s United Church of Christ, 1213 Washington Street, Genoa, Ohio 43430, preceded by visitation in the church from 10-11 AM.  Interment will be in the Clay Township Cemetery, Genoa.  Memorial contributions may be made, in Babe’s name, to the church.  The Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 501 West St. Genoa, is assisting the family with arrangements.  Online condolences may be shared with the family at
