Earl R. DeWitt

Earl R. DeWitt, 89 of Oak Harbor, OH died unexpectedly Tuesday, March 30, 2021 at his home. He was born on October 13, 1931 in Oregon, OH to the late Harold and Katherine (Myrice) DeWitt. On August 8, 1958 he married the former Lois Ann McCarty who preceded him in death on August 16, 2016. He served as a veteran of the United States Army and the United States Navy serving during the Korean War. Earl retired in 1980 from American Standard Plumbing and Heating as a Warehouse Supervisor. His lifelong passion was fishing anywhere he could throw a pole in the water.  He loved fishing and spending time with his family.  

Survivors include his son James (Reggie) DeWitt of Elliston, OH; daughter Brenda (Jim) Sleek of Fremont, OH; grandchildren: Ken (Maggie) Miller, Kelly (Jay) Angel, Tonya (Craig) Parman, Brian (Shawna Watts) Bach, AJ Sleek, Amanda (Brady) Shull, Amber (Brett) Gips; 25 great-grandchildren; and 1 great- great grandchild; sisters: Patrisha Bunn, Janet (Jim) Farkas, and Barbara Soncrant. He was also preceded in death by siblings: Harold DeWitt Jr., Arthur DeWitt, and Katherine Estell.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 4-8pm at the Crosser & Priesman Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 19550 W. State Route 51, Elmore, OH 43416. Funeral Services will begin at 11am Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at the Funeral Home with Pastor Bill Blue officiating. Burial will be in Harris- Elmore Union Cemetery, Elmore, OH with local Military Honors. Memorial Contributions may be given to a charity of the Donor’s Choice.
