12th Cars for Critters Car Show to benefit Ottawa NWR

        The 12th Annual Cars for Critters Benefit Car Show will be held Sunday, Sept. 22 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge, 14000 W. SR 2, Oak Harbor.
        Proceeds from the event will help Friends of Ottawa NWR support Ohio’s only national wildlife refuge complex with its conservation and restoration efforts.
         Car owners will be displaying their vehicles in fun critter classes such as Best Bird (Skylark, Falcon), Best Mammal (Mustang, Pinto) and Best Reptile (Cobra, Viper). Other classes include Best Fledgling Classic (‘90s-Present), Best Street Rod, Longest Migration (distance traveled) and Best Plumage (paint job). Classes are also offered by decade. Trophy plaques will be awarded to class winners.
        Local DJ Crusin’ Zeake will be on site spinning tunes during the show.
        The event will also feature family-friendly activities. Staff from Back to the Wild will showcase live critters, including bald eagles, hawks, owls, flying squirrels and other native wildlife. Food and drinks will be available as well. Visitors can also meet refuge mascot, Puddles the Blue Goose, who will be on hand for the event.
        The Ottawa Wildlife Drive will be open sunrise to sunset and free tram tours will be offered throughout the day.
