Two men have pled guilty in the corruption and bribery case involving FirstEnergy Corp. and a scheme to pass a bill in the state legislature that bails out two financially failing nuclear power plants operated by a subsidiary of the company.

Since August, deputies of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office have conducted several routine traffic stops in which the motorists and occupants were in possession of large amounts of cash and possibly stolen credit cards.

The Lucas County Commissioners last week approved a resolution to provide $1.5 million in Small Business Stabilization Fund grants to assist Main Street businesses and non-profit organization in Lucas County that have been adversely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Governor Mike DeWine last week announced that 82 of Ohio's 88 counties are now considered high incidence counties as defined by the federal government. This means that these counties have seen more than 100 cases per 100,000 residents in the last two weeks.

Following the Ohio Department of Health’s Public Health Advisory System, Ottawa County has been elevated to the Red Level 3 Advisory for the first time since the pandemic began.
The county has triggered four of the indicators established to elevate the county from orange to red.
